Nationwide RV proudly distribute key Roller Team models, as well as being the NZ Distributor for the UK-manufactured Tribute Motorhomes built by the Autotrail factory. Roller Team is based in Tuscany in Italy and is part of the large Trigano Group. They manufacture many of the RV brands now available here in New Zealand through various dealerships. Nationwide RV have a presence in Ashburton, New Plymouth and Silverdale.
Ben was busy with customers wanting a test drive, so the Rock and I took some time to look over the various makes and models on display, and took a shine to the latest Roller Team Ford Transit-based motorhome. We are both Ford fans, our RnR Rosie motorhome is an old 1998 Ford Transit-based little ripper so a Ford badge usually grabs our attention.
There are a number of boxes that will be ticked on many shoppers’ lists with this Zefiro model; it is a four berth motorhome with an electric drop down bed up front. There’s a separate rear bedroom featuring a fixed island bed with lift-up storage, a separate full-sized shower and en-suite bathroom with plenty of storage. There’s a classy, slick looking 140L fridge with freezer inside complete with a separate chiller drawer at the bottom. The kitchen under-bench cupboard hides utility and storage drawers inside, all with positive soft-close catches. Under bench, more drawers, and a compact oven/grill unit will meet most cooks’ needs in an RV. Overhead lockers with shelving add another storage option for the kitchen area.
Heating and hot water are via the Truma i-Net system 6000W combined electric-gas heating CP Plus unit. Another technological advance for the interior is what Roller Team call the ‘Breathe’ system, a method of air distribution around the inside of wall units, in the over-cab area and in all models with fixed rear beds that essentially moves air through wall spaces to improve circulation, stabilise temperatures and avoid the formation of condensation within the vehicle. To aid air movement, the wooden panels are positioned in the dinette at a small distance from the interior side panel. All fixed beds in the rear part or over-cab are fitted with staves. Mattresses of the rear beds are a polyester fabric, quilted top and sides, with breathable technical fabric in the bottom part.
The sleek Italian styling is obvious in these models, with classy exterior finishes and contemporary interior finishes. This model also comes fitted with lots of extras as standard, like the 120W solar panel, bike rack for four bikes (75kg maximum weight), fly screen on the entrance door, colour reversing camera fitted, cab and interior removable carpets and a four-metre rollout awning.
Price wise it will tick the biggest box of all for those looking to buy new with a budget of $130K. This size and weight vehicle is on a Warrant of Fitness (WoF), always popular with customers. All of the Nationwide RV dealerships (Silverdale, New Plymouth and Ashburton) currently have this model in stock. If not this model, take the time to check out the website (nationwiderv.co.nz) to see other Italian- and UK-manufactured models with lots of floor plans to choose from. In the upcoming RV Express digital newsletter I also profile the Roller Team Pegaso 745 A-Class fully integrated model, with a huge rear U-shaped lounge, pull-down front bed, wood effects and sexy lighting in the bathroom, 7410mm length on a grunty 150hp Fiat chassis and priced around $173,000.
The roof features a hail-damage resistant fibreglass exterior, with extruded plastic joiners, Styrofoam® insulation and fibreglass interior lining, 31mm thick in total. The walls are similar with exterior side walls in fibreglass, with no contact between exterior and interior. High-density extruded plastic joiners prevent any contact of the inner part of the walls with the water. Styrofoam® in all walls provides better soundproofing and thermal insulation of the vehicle. Fibreglass inside prevents any contact of the inner part with weathering, again 31mm thick in total. Wood-free construction methods are used for the floor which is constructed of Styrofoam® with upper and lower fibreglass coverings offering enhanced protection, thermal insulation and resistance. Floor thickness is 54mm, offering utmost resistance to potential damage according to the manufacturer. The exterior floor is fibreglass covered to help prevent water and road damage, while the internal floor is finished in PVC flooring with a wooden floor finish. Windows are double glazed and fitted with fly screens and privacy blinds.
