Well-known caravan manufacturers Leisure Line in Hamilton are constantly meeting the latest trends in design, listening to their customers and trying new ideas.

The length of the bench is fantastic, the full-sized gas oven with separate grill and four gas burners has a glass lid that adds to the preparation bench space available when not in use. The sink is large and with a drainer. There is also a separate filtered water tap. Lots of overhead locker storage, drawers, two pull-out pantries, cupboard and drawer storage under the kitchen bench. More cupboard storage opposite next to the large 188L three-way auto fridge/freezer unit, microwave above it. Looking to the nose of the caravan the new leather look in the rich tan colour is fresh and exciting (and the vegan ‘Rock’ loves it). Storage underneath this area, as well as more storage lockers above. Big windows in this caravan, two roof vents as well

We have seen already this over the last few years with the Leisure Line Hi Rider that did away with the wheel arch in the layout design of the Platinum models.

Bumper bar, spare wheel and bike rack fit easily on the back, chequered plate stone chip protection all around the lower half of the caravan, one piece roof and fitted grab handles. Good-sized window in the rear, which really comes to play when inside seeing out

They stepped into the two-berth campervan market with the Auto Haus campervan, and orders for these are outstripping demand as expected.

Damage control is taken care of with plenty of this sort of protection all-round

Earlier this year we saw the well-aimed lighter-weight, but highly spec’d Nomad caravan at the Covi motorhome show in March, and at the recent NZMCA Motorhome, Caravan and Leisure show at Mystery Creek in September they surprised the market again with a new ready-to-rumble off-road model, taking on the Aussie off-road market head to head – while giving Kiwis a locally manufactured option to choose from if that is what they require.

Stepping up into the kerb-side habitation entry door you have the large, U-shaped lounge, with an extra-long couch on the left wall. Kitchen bench has a pull-out extra bench extension. The TV is well positioned, shelf and storage unit below, USB charging shelf, monitors in cupboard above. The clear view from front window to back window behind the bed gives the vehicle a light, airy feel and the views can’t be argued with – these windows are a great size. Overhead lockers above side and rear, bathroom on the kerb side mid-ship

We caught up with Rob Axton from Country RV in Mt Maunganui as he was heading off to pick up the first model for his showroom, and yes, with it weighing in at 2700kg he did take a 3500kg towing vehicle to bring it back.

So nice to have a big fridge/freezer unit, a microwave above

As the name Freedom suggests – and you can see from the build – you will be able to take this caravan to a lot of off-road places for sure. Check out the photos of this first model.

Compact bathroom with combined shower/toilet area – we like the retractable sliding door that can be pulled across for showering – nice idea. Separate vanity sink in the corner, opening window with curtain. Mirrors in the shaving cabinet above the bench cassette toilet

If off-roading is your thing then maybe this model will suit.

The island bed in the rear will please many, as will the spacious wardrobes on both sides, reading lights, and drawers with room for book, glasses and of course your morning cuppa, all whilst looking at the views from your bedroom windows
